Hello Park Folk!
Tomorrow we have our regularly scheduled maintenance party running from 10-2. These work sessions are a great time and place to come out to the Park and make it your own. A miraculous thing happens when folks volunteer at the WCP, they suddenly come to look upon it as theirs! And well they should! The governance of the nonprofit that owns the Park is set up in such a way that you can volunteer and serve on the board and help to make the programming decisions too! The Park property hasn’t been in private singular ownership since 2014 and is proudly owned by The West Central Park Project a 501c3 non profit charity. This 501c3 must, by law, be governed by a board and has been operating that way since 2014. The coolest thing about it is that the residents of the neighborhoods surrounding the Park can some day become it’s board of directors! The Board will ideally be comprised of those it serves. Can you help to see that goal to fruition? We have 11 awesome Board Members now, will you be the 12th one?
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 7th from 12-4 for West Central Park’s 4th Annual Harvest Fest! There will be a pie-luck, a veggie swap, a stone soup, cider pressing, permaculture demonstrations, beehive buiding demonstrations, music you can dance to and so much more! Come out and be a part of this neighborhood autumn gathering!
The West Oly Farmer’s Market has only two Tuesday afternoons left of the season! If you haven’t had a chance to make it out to support this young local market, make a point to do just that on October 3rd from 4-7 or on their final market day of the season, or on Tuesday, October 10th from 4-7. Bring your bags and baskets and support the people who are working 24-7 to keep your food and seeds safe for our future generations!
See you around the Park!
