5 Ways to Get Involved in 2018

West Central Park Project

Happy Friday Park Peeps,

We hope you had a warm and restful holiday season! Please take note that starting this week, our weekly newsletters will now be sent out on Friday mornings. We’re also back to our regular winter work party schedule this week on Sunday from 11-1.

We have an exciting year ahead at the West Central Park with many new projects and features on the horizon. Here are some ways you can get involved this year:

Come to a Work Party

The park wouldn’t be what it is without the incredible dedication of our volunteers! We hold work parties at the park every Sunday from 11-1 in the winter months with extended hours during the warmer season. Come help with garden and landscape tasks, litter pickup, assembling and painting birdhouses, and many other project throughout the year!

Become a Featured Artist

We are in process of installing two new art plinths and we’re looking for artists to feature. Each artist will receive a $600 stipend for their installation and will be featured for one year. If you’re a local outdoor sculpture artist, please consider applying!

Sponsor an Event or Project

Throughout the year, we host multiple public events including live music, movie nights, and seasonal festivals. We also have opportunities for special projects from time to time. All of these are funded primarily through financial contributions from local individuals and businesses. If you would like to support the future of these valuable community building events, please consider becoming a financial donor!

Join a Committee

One important part of our organization are the planning committees. These small groups are open to the public with the purpose of creating and planning smaller, focused projects and events to help benefit the park and local community at large. One of our newest groups that begins next week is the compost committee. This group will be looking at upgrading our park’s compost system. We will also be working on collaborations with OlySunrise Compost Concierge and the local neighborhood community to create a more sustainable a locally minded composting system.

Become a Board Member

If you’re looking for a more serious commitment and are interested in leadership within the organization, please consider joining the Board of Directors. We have several open positions available at this time. Board members are responsible for oversight of the West Central Park Project’s event planning and fundraising efforts and play a direct role in the organization’s business operations.

If any of these opportunities sound like something you would love to get involved with or if you have other ideas or projects the WCPP may want to get involved with, please get in touch at wcp@aparkforus.com!

We hope to see you around the neighborhood, have a happy New Year!
