Celebrating Five Years!

Celebrating Five Years | West Central Park Project

It is a special time for all of us here at the West Central Park Project because this weekend marks our five year anniversary of the very first work party we held! And without fail, we will be at it again this Sunday. Come help us celebrate from 10m to 2pm as we continue to keep the park looking pretty!

Speaking of volunteers, have you ever considered getting involved in your local community and contributing in a meaningful way to the greater good of our city? If so, we want to chat!

“Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

The West Central Park Project is a fully community funded and operated organization. And that means we depend on the generosity of our supporters to meet operating and maintenance needs both on the ground at the park and within our administration.

With that in mind, we are on the lookout for several new board members to fill our ranks. One of the most critical positions being the role of treasurer. This position is a critical part of our team who oversees all the financial matters of the organization. If this is a role you could see yourself filling, please consider joining our team!

We have many other ways you can serve with the West Central Park Project as well. These include other administrative board positions, event planning, ground maintenance, grant writing, and other fundraising efforts.

We are also still seeking donations to fund our summer concert series. This summer we are hoping to bring several well known local bands to the park for free public summer concerts. But free to the public doesn’t mean free to the musicians. We believe that musicians should be paid a fair, living wage so they can support their families just like everyone else. And that takes generous donations from our community supporters to do so. If you are able, please consider making a tax deductible donation to the park on our PayPal page.
