Hey Park Folk!
We are hosting another busy work party tomorrow, Sunday, February 12th, from 11-1 and there will be plenty of maintenance to take care of! We’d like to make a big push this Sunday to get the rest of our tent tops cleaned and put away. Come spend a couple of hours in community at the one and only community owned park in Olympia!
The West Central Park became a community owned space when founder Alicia Elliott donated the parcel to the 501c3 that was set up to care for the Park. The charity was named The West Central Park Project and has been the owner of the Park parcel since January of 2014. Being a charity and needing a revolving board to run it, the Park project has made itself available for any and all community members to participate in. From board or committee positions to volunteering at weekly Sunday work parties, there are many ways that anyone can take ownership of this Park. If we all care for it it will be a legacy for everyone to enjoy!
Mark March 18th on your calendars for a special Park fundraiser that will be hosted by Gloria Dei Lutheran church! The event will be held at the Hotel RL at 5:30 pm on Saturday, March 18th. Tickets are $75 and are available at Gloria Dei Church or at the West Central Park on Sundays, from 11-1. There will be a fun silent auction, speakers and an evening of opportunity to donate to a great cause!
And lastly, remember, if there is some event or activity you’d like to see become a regular part of West Central Park, let us know! The Board of Trustees at WCP has as their number one goal, serving the community and creating a sustainable, green pedestrian friendly space! Contact us at email@example.com to find out more.
See you at the Park Oly!
