Helping the Honey Bees Thrive

West Central Park Project

The sun is out this morning and the weekend is almost here! Which means it’s almost time to gather again at the park and continue on our latest project. We’ll be meeting this Sunday from 11am to 1pm and continuing to focus on the new garden bed space. This is in preparation for our collaboration with South Sound Senior Services, creating a new, ADA and senior accessible gardening space!

Welcoming Our Spring Bees

The cold season is almost finished now and we’re making preparations to welcome in several new bee colonies around the neighborhood. Beginning in April, our neighborhood bee lady Heather Wood will be setting up the hives and brining in some new buzzing residents to join us at the park! But we need your help! In order to fund the new bees, we’re working on selling the remaining honey from last season’s hive. If you would like to support the West Central Park Project and get your hands on some delicious local honey, please get in touch with Joanna at to set up a time to meet at the office!

Biochar Event Recap

Last weekend we hosted the biochar workshop here at the park. It was a nice and relaxed day with a good turnout of folks who came to work, learn, and play. Thanks again to everyone who came out to join us! And with the success of this event, we’re looking at hosting several more fun and educational events composting and gardening events throughout 2018! Stay tuned here and be sure to follow us on Facebook to stay in the loop for event invites.
