Holiday Work Party, Call for Artists, and Compost Committee Info

West Central Park Project

Good afternoon friends,

We’re meeting tomorrow for a special holiday work party from 11-1. Lights have already been hung around the block so we’re decking the park trees to match! If you’re planning on joining us, please consider bringing outdoor and animal friendly items to contribute like cranberry and popcorn strings for the birds and weather hearty ornaments!

CALLING ALL LOCAL ARTISTS: The West Olympia WSECU branch and the West Central Park Project are teaming up to launch a new art plinth addition this winter and we need local artists to feature! Artists will receive a $600 stipend and have their work displayed for a full year. If you’re a local artist creating outdoor ready pieces, please contact us to apply!

We also have a new committee forming this winter to expand our composting program at the park! We’re partnering with Heather Wood of OlySunrise Compost Concierge to develop a more functional and accessible compost system that can also act as a compost hub for the local community. We would love to get our neighbors involved in this fun new project! Send us a message at and we’ll add you to the committee mailing list.

We still have two weeks left in our winter food drive and we could really use your help to fill more boxes for the Thurston County Food Bank! Please bring non-perishable food donations to the park office at 135 Cushing Street weekdays during business hours or during Sunday work parties!

Hope to see you soon!
