Come out this Sunday from 11-1 and help us get our Christmas on! We’ll be decorating our own two lovely evergreens this year instead of getting a cut tree. Our Sequoia on Harrison and our Blue Pyramid Cypress on Division will be perfect for lights and decorations. Next week our Pathway lighting will be installed and on Wednesday, December 21st, at dusk, the Park will be hosting a Holiday Park Lighting Party with hot cider, music and delicious Christmas cookies from Phoebe’s Bakery! Both the tree lights and the pathway lights will be lit dramatically at dusk. Check out the lights in the Park at dusk and then stop in to the Park office to warm up and visit!
In other news, the WCP along with the three other properties that border the north section of the public alley, have formally petitioned the City of Olympia to vacate that portion of the north /south alley that runs from Harrison to 4th Avenue. The Park et al has asked the City to waive the normal compensation associated with right-of-way vacations because the alley will be a dedicated pedestrian and bike right of way for the public as well as an easement for utility and emergency vehicles, and for the Park markets and events. The main goal of the petition is to make a safe walkway for the public by eliminating random vehicle traffic. Stay posted for a public hearing that will be scheduled for this petition and learn how you can weigh in on the matter!
