It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Happy Saturday Friends! What a beautiful day here in the great PNW! Some days it’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through November! We’ve seen a delightful amount of people enjoying the park this past week despite the colder temperatures and it just warms our heart so very much! We’ll be out enjoying it this Sunday from 11-1 for our weekly work party to keep the park looking lovely. Hope you can join us!

Join the West Central Park

Have you ever considered becoming a more integral part of this organization? Well there are many ways you can get involved!

Work Parties: Every Sunday our landscape committee meets with local volunteers to provide much needed maintenance, gardening, and litter pickup for the park grounds. This is an open event and we welcome anyone who wants to join us! During the winter months between October to March, we meet from 11am to 1pm. Then during the warmer seasons from April through September we meet from 10am to 2pm.

Join the Board of Directors: The park board is a critical component of our organization. It’s this group of people that are responsible for all the inner workings including fundraising, administration, financial management, event planning, volunteer coordination, and public outreach.

Join Our Staff: We are currently seeking a part-time Executive Director for the park! We’re looking for someone who can step into a multi-faceted role managing aspects of the Park including but not limited to media relations, fundraising, a membership program, cultural programming and local networking with Olympia based organizations. The role will necessitate the ability to learn to write grants and work to ensure the board fulfills it’s own fiduciary responsibilities. Our most immediate needs include fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management, and preserving already established relationships with local organizations. The executive director will need to communicate closely with the WCP Board to assure adherence to the mission and vision of the Park and to plan programming. The position will begin at 15 hours per week and pay will be commensurate with experience and ability level. TO APPLY: Please email your resume and cover letter to Job opening closes January 1st. Interviews will be held January 14-21st.

Make a Donation: The West Central Park is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. In that capacity, the organization relies on your cash donations to survive. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us to maintain the beauty of the park and gives us the ability to keep bringing the Olympia community free, public events for all to enjoy! All donations are tax deductible and can be made online, by mail, or in person at any of our events.

Special Events:From time to time we host special events at the park and almost always need extra hands to assist with the activities. If you see an upcoming event on our calendar and are interested in helping, let us know!
