Hey there Park folk!
Brrrrr, it’s been chilly, and hopefully all of you are staying warm and well! Get yourself a hearty breakfast and come on out to the WCP this Sunday, January 8th from 11-1 to help us give good nourishment to all the beds both vegetable and ornamental. We’ll have 12 yards of some of the best compost available out there this weekend ready for shovels and wheelbarrows! Each year it’s ideal for the health of the garden beds to feed them extra nutrients in the winter to help keep them strong and vital. Help your community Park stay looking and feeling lovely and cared for!
Coming up on January 9th, the Olympia Arts Commission will be hosting a reception at the Park to celebrate the placement of their 5 new Tree Guard/ Bike Racks on Division Street at West Central Park. The reception will be at 2:30 pm and will include hot cider and cookies in the Park Office building if its foul weather or outdoors if it’s nice. Come help us celebrate more art in the City!
Mark your calendars for an exciting event! On Saturday, March 18th, the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will be throwing a big fundraiser for the West Central Park at the Red Lion Hotel. The Park Volunteers are very grateful and excited to be honored this way by such a strong, community-minded church as Gloria Dei. From the Parks beginnings Gloria Dei has supported, visited and used the Park for it’s early morning Easter sermons. We at the Park would love to have neighbors and members of the WCP community attend this special event. Please see details on the attached invitation!
And remember, this Park is meant to serve the neighborhood in which it sits and envisions a green walkable neighborhood and a resilient community that surrounds it. Help us make it happen!
