Weekend Happenings for July 13, 2018

West Central Park Project

Happy Friday Park Friends! Hope you’ve been out enjoying this beautiful weather! It looks like it’s supposed to stay nice and summery all weekend long. And that is great news because we have another fun filled few days ahead!

The Susan Tuzzolino Quartet

Saturday Night Concert

For this week’s concert event Cooper Schlegel and friends will be kicking the night off followed by our headlining guests The Susan Tuzzolino Quartet featuring Steve Luceno, Lorree Gardener, and Tommy Russell. The show starts at 7pm!

Sunday Work Party

We’ll be having our regularly scheduled morning work party to get things cleaned up from the concert and keep the park looking lovely! Grab your gloves and come garden with us from 10am to 2pm!

Monday Movie Madness

This week’s movie is titled Waking Life. It’s a 2001 American adult animated docufiction film, directed by Richard Linklater. The film explores a wide range of philosophical issues including the nature of reality, dreams, consciousness, the meaning of life, free will, and existentialism. Waking Life is centered on a young man who wanders through a succession of dream-like realities wherein he encounters a series of individuals who engage in insightful philosophical discussions. The movie starts at 9:30pm, but we would suggest getting there early to get your seat. And there will be goodies to munch, including WCP dollar popcorn! West Central Park Accessible Community Garden Update

We’re looking for a few volunteers to help out at the South Sound Senior Services Community Garden we have located at the park. The beds have been planted for about three weeks now, and stuff is growing fast. We could still use some help with weeding/watering and would love for you to meet up with us! The team is out every Thursday morning from 9-11am, so if you would like to join in, stop on by, or call Chris or Cathy, (360) 586-6181, ext. 114 or 112, respectively, for more information. If Thursdays don’t work for you, you’re also welcome to help out with bed tending during the Sunday morning work parties from 10am to 2pm!
