The West Central Park Board of Trustees met tonight to discuss a range issues, from writing the values statement of the Bylaws to planning the Park’s next event.
We can now tell you that the next event will be the “Sustainable Living Exposition” and will take place in the Park on September 7 from 1 to 5PM. We will be inviting a host of organizations and groups from the Olympia community to share the ways in which sustainable living can help the average citizen live a greener life. Details will follow soon, so stay tuned!
One new policy was adopted by the Board tonight: suspending part of PP-005, which outlined the method by which applications for third party use of Park space. Under PP-005, the Events Coordinator and Events Manager were to review applications for use by judging them against the criteria for use established by the Board. The number of third party applications for use has spiked in the past month and the Board – having yet to clearly define the values by which applicants are measured against – opted to suspend this provision and instead have the Board review applications on a case-by-case basis. The goal is avoid setting conflicting precedents and putting the undue burden of discerning how to avoid conflicting precedents on only these two officers.
Finally, reprinted below is the new policy that was adopted and the actions undertaken by the Board this evening.
