Hey Park Pals!
The fantastic weather has really had a terrific effect on all the vegetables, fruits and ornamentals at the Park and it’s a rewarding time of year to volunteer. Small efforts make big differences and it’s so nice to go by the Park later to see what’s been accomplished by our own tender love and care! Our blueberry bushes are starting to show their berries and they need a little extra weeding and watering to do their very best. We have several blueberry species at the Park including the little known Pink Lemonade blueberry which is ripe when bright pink! Plenty of other fruits like fig, cherry, grapes, kiwis, apples, plums and pears are all starting to come on too! Come add your touch to the West Central Park tomorrow from 10-2 and for Father’s Day, it can also be a neat way to spend some quality time with your Dads!
Monday Movie Madness will be revving up on Monday, July 3rd with our first movie of the year, The Fifth Element, a late nineties sci-fi classic about a 23rd century cab driver caught in a race to save the world! This year is the 10th anniversary of the film’s release, and July 3rd will be a great night to honor it! Bring your fuzzy blankies and chairs and get ready for a fun community night. The movie will air at dusk which is around 10 pm in July. Don’t miss it! There will be hot tea and popcorn available.
Don’t forget the West Oly Market each and every Tuesday afternoon from 4-7 with all kinds of goodies, crafts, books and flowers! Every week the West Oly Farmers’ Market has a new talented musician to serenade the shoppers and vendors alike. Stop by! Walk up from any direction, and drive up through the alley from 4th avenue to park in the south parking lot. Keep our small farmers feeding us! Farming isn’t an easy job so they need all the support they can get. Let them know we need and want them in our community!
See you around West Oly!
