The cold weather is swiftly moving in around The Sound and most of us are getting cozy in our homes to feast with friends and family. But there are others without the resources for even the simplest of meals scattered amongst us.
As an organization dedicated to fostering a strong, connected community, we’re teaming up with the West Central Park Neighborhood Center to host our first annual Winter Food Drive. During the month of December, we will be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Thurston County Food Bank.
Donations can be brought to the park office, located in the back yard at 135 Cushing, weekdays from 8am to 2pm or during Sunday work parties between 11am and 1pm. Please make sure food donations are not expired and non-perishable.
“Our human compassion binds us the one to the other – not in pity or patronizingly, but as human beings who have learnt how to turn our common suffering into hope for the future.” – Nelson Mandela
Our regular work party is happening Sunday from 11-1. There will be opportunities to take care of general maintenance needs around the park as well as continued painting work on the bird houses. In case you missed last week, we now have an art station setup for painting birdhouses for spring fundraising and placement at the park!

Have a great weekend!
